Membership or Hourly? How to Decide Based on How You Play

Membership or Hourly? How to Decide Based on How You Play

minute read

If you’re planning to spend some of your winter at Infinite Golf, one of the first decisions you’ll make is whether to buy a membership or just book by the hour. We’d rather give you the real math than a sales pitch, because the right answer depends on how often you play, when you play, and how far ahead you like to plan. Here’s how both options work and how to figure out which one fits you.

How hourly booking works

Anyone can book a bay at Infinite Golf without a membership. Bookings are made one hour at a time through Birrdi, and the rate depends on the time of day and whether you choose an open bay or a private room. Here’s what an hour costs:

  • Overnight Super Off-Peak (12 a.m. to 6 a.m.): $25 open bay, $35 private room

  • Early Morning Off-Peak (7 a.m. to 10 a.m.): $30 open bay, $40 private room

  • Midday Off-Peak (11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday): $35 open bay, $45 private room

  • Prime Evening Peak (4 p.m. to 12 a.m., Monday to Thursday): $40 open bay, $50 private room

  • Weekend Peak (Friday 4 p.m. through Saturday, Sunday, and holidays): $50 open bay, $60 private room

Each window runs until the next one starts, so there’s never a gap. As a non-member, you can book up to seven days in advance.

Pay-as-you-go makes a lot of sense if you play occasionally, if your schedule is unpredictable, or if you want to try the place a few times before committing to anything. There’s no monthly fee and no pressure to get your money’s worth.

What membership gets you

We offer three membership tiers, and each one comes with three benefits: a discount on the hourly rate, a longer booking window, and a merchandise discount.

Infinite Access is $49 a month or $499 a year. You get 10% off the hourly rate, you can book 10 days in advance, and you get 10% off merch.

Infinite Plus is $99 a month or $999 a year. You get 20% off the hourly rate, you can book 14 days in advance, and you get 15% off merch. This is our most popular tier.

Infinite Premium is $149 a month or $1,499 a year. You get 30% off the hourly rate, you can book 21 days in advance, and you get 20% off merch.

Paying yearly saves you $89 on Access, $189 on Plus, and $289 on Premium, which works out to close to two months free on every tier.

The honest math on the discount

Here’s the part most places won’t spell out for you. If you look at the hourly discount on its own, every one of our tiers pays for itself at roughly the same point, and that point depends on when you play.

Say you mostly play open bays on weeknights during Prime Evening Peak, where an hour is $40. On Infinite Access, 10% off saves you $4 an hour, so your $49 membership pays for itself after about 12 hours of play in a month. On Infinite Plus you save $8 an hour, and on Infinite Premium you save $12 an hour, which lands both of those at around 12 hours a month too. Our tier pricing scales with the discount, so the break-even point barely moves.

If you’re a weekend private room regular at $60 an hour, the numbers get friendlier. Every tier covers its monthly cost after roughly eight hours of play.

Where the tiers pull apart is what happens after you pass that point. Picture someone who plays 20 hours a month in open bays on weeknights. At full price, that’s $800. Infinite Access saves them $80, or $31 after the membership fee. Infinite Plus saves $160, or $61 after the fee. Infinite Premium saves $240, or $91 after the fee. The more you play, the more the higher tiers make sense.

On the other hand, if you’re an overnight or early morning golfer playing a handful of hours a month at off-peak rates, the discount alone probably won’t cover a membership. That’s completely fine. Hourly is a great option for you, and it’s the one we’d point you toward.

The part the math doesn’t capture: the booking window

For a lot of golfers, the discount is the second-best reason to become a member. The best reason is the booking window.

Everyone who has tried to book a tee time on a Saturday morning in June knows the feeling of opening the app and finding nothing left. Indoor golf in the winter has the same problem, especially on Friday nights, weekend afternoons, and in the private rooms. Non-members can book seven days out. Infinite Access members get 10 days, Infinite Plus members get two full weeks, and Infinite Premium members get three weeks.

If you have a standing weekly game with the same group, or you like locking in a private room for a birthday or a night out with friends before anyone else can grab it, those extra days are worth a lot. You get to pick the exact time you want instead of planning your week around whatever bays are left.

So which one is right for you?

Here’s the simplest way we can put it.

Book hourly if you play a few times a month, you’re flexible about when you play, or you mostly play off-peak. You’ll pay less than you would with a membership, and you can always upgrade later.

Go with Infinite Access if you’re playing roughly three hours a week, or if a few extra days of booking lead time would make your life easier.

Go with Infinite Plus if you have a regular weekly game, play more than 12 or so hours a month, and like to plan two weeks out. There’s a reason it’s our most popular tier.

Go with Infinite Premium if Infinite Golf is going to be your winter home course. If you’re in multiple times a week and want first pick of the best times three weeks out, this is the tier that pays you back the most.

For a quick gut check, think about how many hours you’d realistically play in a typical winter month, multiply that by the rate for when you usually play, and compare it with the numbers above. If you’re anywhere near the break-even point, the longer booking window will probably make the decision for you.

Get in early

Our opening date isn’t confirmed yet, but you can join the waitlist now. Waitlist members get two hours of advance access to pre-booking before we open it up to the public, which is a good way to grab your spot before anyone else does. Once we’re open, you can book by the hour or pick up a membership anytime through our website.

Whichever way you go, the bays are open 24/7, so the only schedule you need to work around is your own.
